  • Esja Mountain: Medium difficult 2-3h hike, which rewards you with a great view of the whole Greater Reykjavik area.
    Easily accessible by public Bus: take Bus Number 11 from the Blue House and change at Hlemmur Station to Bus 15.
  • Reykjadalur: located between tectonic plates close to the town of Hveragerdi, this scenic valley invites you to a 1 hour hike each way to the famous hot river. Extra Towels can be borrowed from our upstairs bathroom in the Blue House.
  • Glymur Waterfall: a 4-5 hour hike to Iceland’s highest waterfall. Including an astonishing view of the surrounding landscape, as Hvalfjordur is widely considered one of Iceland’s most beautiful fjords.
  • Heidmörk: Popular amongst the citizens of Reykjavik. This close-by retreat offers beautiful red lava, and walking paths within a beautiful forest of over five million plants and about 150 species of flowers.
  • Keilir: Between the airport and Reykjavik; it is not accessible for small vehicles. This hike up this volcano gives you an amazing view over the Faxafloi Bay.
